Rescued from the Fayetteville County Animal Shelter by my forever parents on Friday, on Sunday I was taken to the emergency animal hospital, my winded leg had gotten much worse and the Dr said it should be removed. That is the start of my story, read on to hear the rest…….

Saturday – Staples Removed

I got up this morning very excited, this morning I get to go see my favorite friends at the Vet Clinic that helped me. I was a little scared when I first went in it was very noisy, lots of other dogs and cats barking and meowing. I crawled in my Dads lap knowing I would be safe there. Then I saw my Dr, she was talking to another mom about her fury friend, then he saw me, came over and petted my head, told my parents she would take me and get my staples out and that she really liked the way I was doing. I got down from my dad’s lap and went with her, I knew she would keep me safe too. She weighed me and took me straight back to see my other Vet Tech Friends. In no time I had my staples out and my vaccinations that needed to be updated. We were then on our r way home, I felt so much better.
When we got home, my Dad got my golf cart out and we all 3 went for a ride around the neighborhood, I was very calm and watched as all the different things and critters went by. Then we went home and I took a short nap.

Wednesday Evening

It has been 2 nights and 2 days, I am starting to feel this is my forever home and these my forever parents.

Tuesday, my dad got up early and put on his uniform to go out and do some volunteer work, when he came home we all got to go for a ride in the car and did not end up in a bad place or in the Dr Office, it was kind of fun, I saw many new people but they were not being my friends, even when I wagged my tail, I guess it was because my dad and I were inside the car with the windows up. We finally went home and I did have a good first shopping trip. I managed to sleep in the bed with my dad the first part of the night, he went to bed very early, my mom stayed out and watched the television till it was late, then my dad took me outside and walked till I did my “business “ we came back in and we all went to sleep till the morning.

Wednesday was a normal day, my family got up together and had a great breakfast, ( I had my kibble and green beans) then we went for a short walk to exercise my muscles. Dad had hooked up his big white trailer and was going to my granny’s. I wanted to go but would not have enough supervision on the ride by myself.
When he came home , we had some family time and togetherness, then my neighbor aunt and uncle came over and I had a girls night when my dad and uncle went out to ride the neighborhood.

When he came home he cooked outside and we had dinner, then we got ready for bed, taking me out for my evening walk and do my business for the night.

My granny gave my dad a set of stairs so I could get on and off the tall bed at night, but I am not sure about using them. We went to bed and I was able to sleep the night through till morning. It is easier and I feel more like I have found my home.

Feeling at home
Also I am slowly eating and gaining a little weight, my ribs are not showing as bad anymore,  will be glad when my fur coat grows back.

Monday Morning

I have been in  my new home for 3 days. My parents have made sure all my needs are met and are trying very hard to teach me new things, like not licking my staples that hold my hip together. I am learning but they have to put the plastic cone on me at times.

My plastic cone

Sometimes I have to wear my cone to keep me from licking my staples that hold me together.

I have been out several times in my back yard over the past few days, and I am trying to learn my boundaries but sometimes get confused. My parents are very patient with me and know I am trying very hard to learn all that they are sharing. It will take a bit for me to totally trust they are there for me, and that they are looking out for my best interests.

The last 2 nights I have spent time in the bed, in my playpen, and on the couch, I am restless, wondering what will happen to me next, my hope is my new parents are patient with me and keep me. So far they have been so wonderful, I have just had so much bad luck.

This morning my parents left me in my playpen for about 2 hours, while they went out for breakfast. I was not sure what was going on even though they told me it was just for a short while, I managed to get out of my playpen, but I did not get hurt or make any messes. When they came home they were very loving and kind, I think they understood I was scared they had left me, but they did not, and I am very glad to see them.

My mom left this afternoon but my dad stayed home with me. Shortly we went out for a walk in the yard (dad is trying to teach me my yard boundaries) then I saw the next door neighbor and had to go over and introduce myself to him. He acted very glad to meet me and gave me lots of kind words and petted me a lot.

I have had a very good and interesting day so far, I am a very happy puppy.

As the rest of the day passed I got to go out again and said HI for the second time to my new friend, our neighbor. We walked and enjoyed the sun in the afternoon. I am getting better about leaving my staples alone, I did not have to where my plastic cone at all this afternoon, it was very nice. I am tired now so I will probably sleep well this evening.

Sleep time, good nite all
